By Air
Rio de Janeiro is served by two main airports:
- Galeão – Antônio Carlos Jobim International Airport (GIG): This is the main international hub, with direct flights from Europe, the Americas, Africa, and the Middle East.
- Santos Dumont Airport (SDU): Located downtown, SDU is ideal for domestic and regional flights, with frequent service from São Paulo, Brasília, and other major Brazilian cities.
Ground Transportation:
- From GIG to the city center or the conference area, the best options include official airport taxis, app-based ride services (Uber, 99).
- From SDU, taxis and ride apps are quick and affordable. The airport is close to most central and southern zone hotels.
By Bus
Rio is well connected to other Brazilian cities by long-distance buses arriving at the Novo Rio Bus Terminal, with routes from São Paulo, Belo Horizonte, and beyond. Taxis and buses from the terminal offer easy access to the rest of the city.
Getting Around Rio
The MetroRio subway is an efficient and safe way to travel across the southern and central parts of the city. Ride apps are also widely used and reliable, as are taxis.
