As part of our commitment to making GAPC 2026 as sustainable as possible, we will not be providing printed materials, conference bags, or complimentary notebooks and pens as part of the conference materials. We therefore encourage delegates to bring their own notebook and pen, if desired, as well as a reusable water bottle.
These are small but intentional steps to help reduce waste and lessen the environmental footprint of the event. We greatly appreciate your understanding and support, and we look forward to welcoming you to Rio de Janeiro soon.
The local currency is the Brazilian Real (BRL). Credit and debit cards are widely accepted, and contactless payment is common. Currency exchange is available at airports and major banks.
Rio is in Brasília Time (GMT-3).
The official language is Portuguese. English is spoken in hotels, tourist areas, but learning a few basic phrases in Portuguese is appreciated.
The conference will take place in early April, which is autumn in Brazil. Expect warm and pleasant weather, with average daytime temperatures around 25–30°C (77–86°F) and cooler evenings. Occasional rain showers are possible, but April is generally drier than the summer months.
Voltage in Rio is typically 110–127V. Plug types C and N are standard (two round prongs). Visitors may need a plug adapter and, depending on your devices, a voltage converter.
